There have been several requests for a full-power .44 Magnum load that recoils substantially less than our other heavy .44 Magnum loads, but still penetrates deeply and remains deadly on game animals.
When S&W introduced their Model 329PD, we observed that some scandium revolvers experienced sticky extraction from their titanium cylinders with our heavy loads. The recoil in the lightweight scandium 329PD was severe, sometimes causing bullets to "jump crimp," which could tie up the revolver.
To address recoil, crimp jump, and sticky extraction, we developed this load. It maintains full power but uses a lighter-weight, super hard cast, gas-checked bullet that still penetrates deeply in big game. This load is ideal for users of the S&W Model 329PD and will not lead your barrel.
This load falls well under SAAMI pressure specifications and is safe to use in ANY .44 Magnum firearm in normal working condition. While we appreciate hearing from our customers, please do not contact us to ask if this load is safe for your specific .44 Magnum—it is, assuming your firearm is functioning properly.
Please NOTE: The action in Henry Lever Action rifles is too short to cycle this load. However, it can be fired by hand-chambering one round at a time.
This is a serious full-power .44 Magnum load that can penetrate large bones (including a bear’s skull) and drive deeply into vital organs and tissues, all while producing minimal recoil.
