This 225-grain full-profile wadcutter .45 Auto Rim +P load is one of the most potent defensive rounds ever developed for the cartridge. It uses the same bullet as our .45 Colt anti-personnel ammunition (Item #3I), now available in .45 Auto Rim by popular demand.
- Penetrates approximately 30 inches in flesh and bone
- Creates a devastating permanent crush cavity due to its wadcutter profile

- Safe for use in all modern .45 ACP revolvers, including post-war Model 1917 revolvers in good condition
Due to high operating pressure, users may experience slightly sticky extraction in titanium, scandium, or aluminum cylinders. This issue is not present in steel cylinders or with our standard pressure version of this load. In testing with the S&W Model 325PD, extraction remained normal, though slight stickiness was detectable. Chambers with tooling marks or roughness may increase this effect.
Flash-suppressed powder is used to prevent shooter blindness in low-light conditions—a tactical advantage, as approximately 95% of civilian shootings in the U.S. occur in the dark.
The 225-grain wadcutter bullet is hard cast (not soft lead), properly lubricated, and designed to:
- Resist barrel fouling even after extended shooting
- Maintain structural integrity—no fragmentation, smearing, or mushrooming
- Deliver straight, deep penetration with a consistent crush cavity
Test velocities from stock factory revolvers:
- 1,122 fps – S&W Mountain Gun, 4-inch barrel
