Due to popular demand, Buffalo Bore is now offering two heavy .45 Auto Rim standard pressure loads. Both loads feature premium Starline brass and utilize flash-suppressed powder to preserve shooter vision in low-light conditions—an essential consideration, as over 95% of civilian shootings in the U.S. occur in the dark when threats are most active.
These loads deliver ballistic performance equivalent to +P .45 ACP ammunition, yet operate at standard .45 ACP pressures. They are safe for use in any .45 ACP revolver in normal operating condition, including all Colt and S&W Model 1917 revolvers.
Real-world velocity tests were conducted using personal revolvers—not laboratory barrels. Notably, the newer S&W 4-inch Mountain Gun produced velocities nearly equal to older models with longer barrels, demonstrating the tighter tolerances of modern S&W revolvers.
