45 Super is externally and dimensionally identical to 45 ACP or 45 ACP +P. It is designed for use in 45 ACP semi-auto pistols that have been modified with:
- Stronger-than-normal recoil springs
- A shock buffer
- Additional internal modifications
While some stock 45 ACP +P pistols—such as the Glock 21, HK USP, or full-sized all-steel 1911—can technically fire 45 Super, doing so without proper modifications may damage the firearm due to increased pressure and slide velocity.

All 45 Super ammunition is loaded with flash-suppressed powders to prevent shooter blindness in low-light conditions—especially useful when threats or wild animals are most active.
Design Intent:
- JHP loads: Designed for anti-personnel use and hunting small big game like deer
- Solid bullet loads: Designed for breaking large bones (e.g., bear shoulders or skulls) and effective for anti-personnel use when shooting through cover such as car doors or stick frame walls
