The Cooper Firearms of Montana M92 Backcountry is one of the most lightweight magnum caliber rifles available, with an average rifle weight of approximately 5.75 lbs ( or 92 ounces). The M92 action is based on Cooper's famous M52 action but features a dramatically smaller profile and aluminum bolt shroud for weight savings. The bottom metal of the M92 is precision machined from 7075 aluminum for further weight reduction. The flush fitting (or slightly protruding on magnum chambered rifles) three round magazine is made from stainless steel for increased reliability and longevity.
Starting at 1.15” at the receiver the M92 Backcountry's light contour barrel slims down to just under .6” at the muzzle. The barrel is capped with the 30-port radial muzzle brake that effectively dampens recoil of all calibers, standard or magnum. The stock of the M92 Backcountry is made from Kevlar-reinforced fiberglass and features a raised monte-carlo style comb. To aid in reducing felt recoil, the M92 Backcountry uses a Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad.
