The Henry® Original Cody Firearms Museum Series 44-40 Engraved Lever-Action Rifle is highly engraved featuring the beautiful style of the 19th century, famous engraver, Louis Daniel Nimschke. Nimschke commissioned work from his personal New York City studio, creating a striking appearance of art on guns. His style features bold American scroll work with European detailing. The brass receiver features 90% coverage and nickel finish complimented by bright polishing and nitro-blued screws. A highly figured walnut stock and nickel-plated furniture also add a gorgeous touch. This 3rd Edition, Cody Museum Collectors Series Rifle is limited to 300 available units. In the late 1850's, metallic cartridges were becoming quite popular, putting firearms that shoot them in high demand. Benjamin Tyler Henry was quick to step and make the repeating rifle, famously known as the 1860 Henry. The rifle was adopted in limited numbers during the civil war. The rifle allowed a small unit to bring the firepower of an entire company. Henry brings you the same rifle now chambered in .44-40 centerfire, a round that has since replaced the now obsolete, original .44 Henry Rimfire. A specially-formulated, hard brass receiver features the same tensile strength as steel and is paired with an octagonal barrel, magazine, and fancy-grade American Walnut stock. This excellent rifle adds a classic bladed front sight and folding ladder rear sight. A traditional half-cock safety hammer notch is on this rifle without the modernized manual safety. Cherish ownership of a beautiful piece of art and firearms history with this elegant offering from Henry.
