RUGER Gunsite Scout 308 Win 16.1" 10rd Bolt Rifle w/ Threaded Barrel - Black / Wood Laminate

Got this and immediately put an XS Sights Scout Rail on the top to allow me to have both a traditional scope as well as the iron sights in case the scope failed. In short, this gun is accurate as hell, especially considering how short the barrel is. I shoot 168 gr BTHP, 150 gr FMJ, and 150 gr SP, all handloads. This thing eats the 168 gr happily and gives me my best results, but is still really good with the 150 gr rounds. Point of impact shifts slightly between the two weights, but thats to be expected. The gun also grups subsonic loads fairly well, about 2-3. The flash suppresor and standard threads on the end mean that in the future you can add a suppressor if you want to hunt or target shoot without disturbing the rest of the world. The metal magazine that comes with it feels clunky, but if feeds consistently. The polymer mags you can buy afterwards feel less clunky, but dont seem to feed as well. Overall Im really happy with this gun. Its easy to work the bolt, not as heavy as a semi-auto, magazine fed so I dont have to worry about blind magazines or carrying loose rounds. Compared to other 308 options, this is easy to hike with Not heavy, almost foolproof to operate, and dead nuts reliable. This is the gun to get when it absolutely, positively has to feed and go bang when you need it to. Their customer service is fairly good as well. This was my first Ruger product, and I was impressed me enough that I bought a Mini-14 to accompany it.

This is by far the greatest backpacking rifle I know of. I do a lot of mountain exploring and coyote hunting. I love taking the rifle with me. The ghost rings are great. I did mount a traditional redfield revenge scope on it. Love everything about it. Kygunco was great. Shipped fast and had no issues.

Could not be happier with the servie from KY Gun Company. It was refreshing to be able to talk to a real human being when I called. Plan on more of my business in the future.

Of course, but only because I like guns - if you only wanted one guy buy this. This gun put me in rhythm when shooting in rapid succession and I actually synced my breathing with action of the bolt. Ive been told semi-auto 308s are pointless b/c target acquisition takes so long after recoil - but Ive never shot a semi-auto 308 so take that for what its worth. Oh yeah, this gun is extremely accurate for how short the barrel is. I have a Leatherwood/HiLux Scout rifle scope with quick release mounts so that I can still use the ghost sights if needed. 1 MOA at 100 yards - which is all I need b/c Im not sniping deer past that.

Like the gun, bolt is a little loose and it shoots a little low, but I understand it gets better with use. Picking up a bore site to help improve aim and point of impact. However, it is exactly what I was looking for. Lightweight, bolt action, 308 caliber and easy to operate. Looking for a good scope to go with it. Glad I purchased it. I recommend it to anyone who wants a good bolt action rifle.
