SAVAGE ARMS 93R17 GVXP 17HMR 21" 5rd Bolt Rifle w/ 3-9x40 Scope - Blued | Walnut

After careful consideration and price-watching, I decided to purchase this package deal by Savage from KGC when it went on sale. Before purchasing, I inquired via e-mail about the scope manufacturer and was told it was Nikon. Upon arrival, I found something called a Bushnell Sharpshooter. I was disappointed but decided to give it a try. Subsequently, I discovered it to be a unique model, unavailable for retail sale and that it has been characterized as a cheap, low end scope. Although it is shown as a legacy model on Bushnells website, Bushnell told me they are still making it for Savage to use on some of their gun/scope package deals. According to Savage, they made a switch from Simmons to Bushnell in 2014 on some gun/scope packages.

While sighting in for the first time, I found that the entire scope was loose and would wiggle from side to side. When I sat down at the bench to investigate, I found that all four mounting screws for the two-piece base were loose. This doesnt speak well of Savages QA/QC since it was mounted and bore-sighted at the factory.

In hindsight, I should have refused the transfer. If I had it to do over, I would purchase the gun only and add a higher quality scope. As for the gun, Id give it 4-5 rating.

As for Savage and KGC, both were pleasant in their communication with me but neither could resolve my dissatisfaction. In my humble opinion, there should be full disclosure in detail by both parties about exactly what your getting when you purchase this item.
