Originally shopping for a different AR style .22, I happened across this one. Not only was this rifle cheaper, it had a lot of features that I liked over the competition. All aluminum upper and lower receiver, dust cover and floating hand guard just to name a few. There are a few criticisms, however none of them are deal breakers. The forward assist and bolt release are non-functioning and are there for looks. A functioning bolt release would have been a huge plus for training purposes. The trigger group is proprietary and very heavy. Good news is that a spring kit is available for it and is highly recommended. Finally the "buffer tube" and pistol grip is airsoft spec, not Mil or commercial. Because of this, the Mil-Spec stock needed shimmed out with a little velcro to stop it from rattling and swapping out grips is a challenge. I installed the spring kit and gave it a trigger job before shooting it for the first time. When I did take it out, it shot fantastic. The pop up iron sights do the job and after a slight dialing in, I was plinking cans at a good pace. I only ran 60 rounds through it the first time out. It shot all 60 smoothly with no malfunctions. I could have easily shot another 100 rounds without thinking about it, it was that fun. It's a great trainer for younger shooters as well. Very happy with this purchase.
