Friends, prior to this new 450 Marlin load being introduced, all of Buffalo Bore’s 450 Marlin loads were bone-crushing, heavy-hitting, heavy-bulleted loads designed to deliver maximum killing power for the biggest game on the planet.
I decided to make a lower recoiling, more moderate load for everyone, shooting the 450 at deer-sized or larger animals, up to about 800 lbs. if you are taking chest shots.
This new load features a 300 gr. TSX flat nose/profile, all-copper bullet for use in magazine tubes at a muzzle velocity of 1,800 fps +/- depending on the rifle. This load is pleasant to shoot and quite deadly on elk, black bear, interior grizzly, and smaller animals, and contains no lead.
This load shot great in both test rifles. Below, you will see velocity results from two rifles:
- 1,890 fps - Marlin, 22-inch barrel
- 1,794 fps - Marlin, 18-inch barrel
